Last updated: August 2026. We are a six-room family-run hotel, and we treat your data the way we treat our guests: with care, and without tricks. This page says in plain language what we collect, why, and what your choices are.

What we collect, and why
Enquiries and bookings. When you contact us by form, email or WhatsApp, we receive what you send — typically your name, contact details and stay dates. We use it to answer you, hold and manage your reservation, and host you well. Restaurant reservations made through our form are processed by our own reservation system. Room bookings completed on our booking engine happen on live.ipms247.com (eZee), which has its own privacy terms.
During your stay. We keep the practical notes hosting requires — dietary needs, arrival times, special occasions you tell us about. We keep them to make a return visit feel remembered, and we never sell or rent guest data to anyone.
Cookies & measurement
Essential cookies (remembering your cookie choice itself) always work. Everything else waits for your OK in the cookie banner:
- Analytics — anonymous-level understanding of which pages help visitors, via Google Tag Manager.
- Advertising measurement — we run ads to be found, and with your consent Meta's tools tell us whether those ads led to a real enquiry, so a small hotel's budget isn't wasted. Without consent, these tools stay off or run in cookieless, limited mode.
You can change your mind any time: reopen the cookie settings and choose again. Your choice is stored on your device, not on our servers.
“Where you left off”
If you have read a page here before, the homepage may show one quiet line linking
back to it. That is done entirely on your own device: a single browser storage entry
(matlai.lastread) holding the page address, its heading and the date.
It contains no name, no identifier and no counter, it is never sent to us or to
anyone else, it is not used for advertising, and it deletes itself after 30 days.
Clearing your browser's site data removes it immediately.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — one email to info@hotelmatlai.com does it. EU/EEA guests have the full set of GDPR rights, including complaint to a supervisory authority; we honour the same standard for every guest regardless of passport.
Third parties we use
WhatsApp (Meta) for guest messaging — your choice to message us there; the booking engine eZee (live.ipms247.com) for room reservations; Google and Meta for the consent-gated measurement above. We share with them only what each needs to do its job, and nothing for their own marketing.
