Order the evening before, and the tray floats out at whatever hour the sun and the tide agree on. The rest of the morning belongs to the pool's edge and the horizon.

Walk the reef flat to Mchanga sandbank at low tide. Kayak it at high. Sail a ngalawa into the sunset on the Chwaka side. Bustani Spa is in the garden; Zatiny and Duyên are barefoot-close for dinner.

Villa Kidosho — questions couples ask
Kidosho is built in carved coral stone in the Swahili-Arabic style of old Zanzibar — arched doorways, hand-worked plaster, deep shaded terraces. Jua faces the sunrise over the Indian Ocean; Mwezi keeps the softer evening light. Between them, the infinity pool hangs directly above the beach, and the floating breakfast arrives on order from Zatiny's kitchen.
Can we book just one suite?
Yes — Jua and Mwezi are bookable individually, each with its own terrace and shared use of the infinity pool. For total privacy, take both suites as one villa.
Is Kidosho right for a honeymoon?
It's the honeymoon address of the east coast: the pool above the beach, floating breakfast, private candlelight dinners in the sand, and couples treatments at Bustani Spa a garden path away.
What is included in the rate?
Half board — breakfast and dinner at Zatiny with both menus (Indian Ocean fusion and Duyên's Vietnamese) — plus kayaks, the beach in front, and butler service. Rates start from USD 655 per suite per night.
Can we combine Kidosho with a safari?
Very common — most honeymooners fly to Zanzibar first, take 4–6 nights at Kidosho, then a short flight to the northern safari circuit. Your butler helps arrange both transfers with the agencies and drivers we work with.
How do we get there?
A private transfer from Zanzibar Airport takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes — send your flight details and it's arranged.
Jua or Mwezi — how do we choose?
Jua catches the sunrise first and holds the morning light; Mwezi keeps the softer evening tones. They mirror each other in size and comfort, so the honest answer is chronotype: early risers take the sun suite, slow evenings take the moon.
Inside the suites
Jua and Mwezi, room by room
The two suites are genuinely large — around 80 m² each — and built as mirror worlds: Jua (sun) on the left catches the first light; Mwezi (moon) on the right keeps the softer evening tones. Each has its own private terrace with sun loungers, a swing bed, a separate lying area and a dedicated pool shower, arranged so that guests in the two suites rarely see each other — the pool sits at a higher level, and the balconies are set back into the garden.
The bathrooms carry Kidosho's signature detail: a concrete bathtub with a small ocean-facing window — privacy glass lets you watch the Indian Ocean from the water while nobody can see in, and a shutter closes when you'd rather the world disappeared entirely. Every suite also has a shower, a king-size bed, air-conditioning plus a ceiling fan, an in-room safe, a minibar and Zanzibar cable TV. Toiletries are from Inaya Zanzibar — handmade on the island — and every arrival is welcomed with a seaweed soap from the Mwani women's cooperative, whose skincare the hotel buys directly to keep the money in the village.
One practical grace note: Kidosho lies on one level from the entrance — no stairs to reach the suites, which is why we recommend it to guests with limited mobility; the only steps lead from the balcony down to the sun terrace and pool. Families booking the whole villa can add proper Swahili beds (90×200 cm, with mosquito nets) in the generous floor space of either suite.

Booking Kidosho, without surprises
Check-in from 14:00, check-out by 10:30, minimum stay 2 nights (5 in peak season). Book one suite and you share the villa with at most one other couple; book both and the pool, lounge and terraces answer to nobody else — the buyout is gently discounted against two separate suites. Rates run from USD 655 per suite per night with half board — always framed as "from", because emailing for the current special offer is genuinely worth the message. WiFi is fiber-fed with battery-backed routers (each voucher gives a solid 5 Mbps per device — video calls hold), drinking water is free and plastic-bottle-free, and payment works in Visa and Mastercard, no Amex, USD or Tanzanian shillings.

The first hour of the day
Mornings at Kidosho run on ceremony: the sun clears the horizon straight ahead, coffee lands on the terrace unasked-for once the butler learns your hour, and the pool holds its glassy minute before the day's first swim breaks it. Order the floating breakfast the night before and the whole performance floats.
